Staying Healthy and Fresh This Festive Season

The festive season is the toughest time of the year to keep fit and stay fresh. Eating food from outside and all-night parties can take a toll on your body. So how do you make sure this season does not undo the progress you have been making so far?

3 Simple Steps to Enjoy the Festival Whole-Heartedly

1) Gorge on a healthy dessert!

Sweets that make rounds during the festive season are notoriously calorie-heavy. However, a lot of the ingredients can be replaced with healthier alternatives. A simple dessert alternative that you can try this Diwali is the Jowar Dates Ladoo.

In a pan add chopped dates and water. Stir well on low-medium flame. Once the dates become mushy, add roasted jowar flour (sorghum flour) and chopped nuts (almonds and walnuts). Keep aside. Grease your palm with ghee and make the ladoos. Now eat healthy, without feeling guilty. It is always a good idea to pre-eat before you step out.

2) Quick cardio at home

Hitting the gym regularly during festivals can be demanding. As an alternative, you can work out right at home. Explore simple and quick exercise techniques that can engage your whole body.

Skipping is one of the most effective cardio exercises. Before you start your day pick up a rope and skip
for just 10 minutes. Skipping is a full body workout. You can do it at your own pace. Skipping will burn those additional calories without burning too much of your time.

3) Your body is a temple
Activities that are customary to this time of the year can be quite taxing. Give your mind and body sufficient time to rest and recuperate. Making a visit to the parlour or a spa can be time consuming. Homemade masks with natural and easily available ingredients is the way to go.

You can make a quick face pack with turmeric, lemon juice and yoghurt. Massage this on your face for 15 minutes and rinse with cold water. Home remedies will get you a glowing skin and keep you refreshed this festive season.

Cities can get awfully overwhelming and polluted during festivities. You can enjoy the festival with your loved ones at a place like Lodha Belmondo which is not too far away from the city. With 90 acres of open greens and endless avenues for relaxation, this is the perfect weekend home that will give your body the rest and respect it deserves. Ranging with a list of activities like morning yoga sessions on the sun deck, followed by a healthy and organic breakfast, a relaxing massage at the spa, etc. you are bound to celebrate this festival in a healthier way.
