The 12.3-kilometre project, which began in 2017, is projected to be operational over the next 8-10 months, delivering many benefits to the city. The corridor will act as an alternate route, reducing traffic congestion between these two points. It will shorten travel lengths between Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan and Badlapur by seven kilometres, leading to a considerable reduction in travel time of roughly 20-25 minutes. It would also help to relieve traffic congestion on Shilphata Road.

The Airoli-Katai Naka elevated corridor, a major infrastructure project in Mumbai's developing region, is moving quickly and is being built in three parts. The first phase, which spans 3.43 kilometres, is 92% complete, while the second phase, which spans 2.57 kilometres, is 67% complete. The third phase will span 6.3 kilometres.

According to the sources, the current status of the Airoli Katai Tunnel Road is: That phases 1 and 2 are at the advanced stage of construction and will most likely be operational by this year. While 66 per cent of the tunnel work has been done. Phase 3 is yet to gain momentum.
