Thane Dombivli Link Road - Travel Hassle Free

February 28, 2023

Thane as an area has grown by leaps and bounds during the last two decades. At the turn of the century, there was a high demand for homes in areas with solid social infrastructure, lifestyle amenities, weren't too congested, were affordable, and so on. Cut to 20 years later, Thane is a buzzing suburb that has ticked all the right boxes, and it is also the hub of many upcoming infrastructure developments, such as Metro Line 4 till Wadala, road travel to Nagpur via the Mahasamruddhi Mahamarg in 8 hours instead of 16, and connecting Dombivli within minutes via the upcoming Thane-Dombivli bridge and Link Road. Let's take a look at the one that would be ready soon: Thane-Dombivli Link Road and bridge.

Changing lives of millions: Thane-Dombivli Link Road and Dombivli bridge.

As a Thane resident, getting to Dombivli used to be a major hassle. The 2 suburbs, although situated quite close to each other, are separated by the Ulhas river. Hence, one has to use either of the 2 current routes to access either of the suburbs. The first originates in Thane and connects Dombivli, via Mumbra. The second route is via the Mumbai-Nashik expressway and Bhiwandi-Kalyan bypass. Both roads are quite busy and end up taking up to 60 mins of travel time.

MMRDA has devised an excellent solution for this by linking these two suburbs through a 6-lane, 960-meter bridge. As a result, from Viviana Mall-Majiwada, one can now take the Mumbai-Nashik Expressway, followed by a detour at the newly constructed Thane-Dombivli Link Road, which is home to Lodha Upper Thane and Lodha Villa Royale, to cross the bridge and reach Dombivli in 20 minutes, cutting travel time in half. This bridge would alleviate traffic congestion on the two lengthier routes.

Current status of Thane-Dombivli Link Road:

On 21 Feb'23, Shri SVR Srinivas, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA visited & reviewed the progress of the bridge and asked for the work to be expedited. MMRDA is confident of having the bridge ready by the end of Apr'23.

Impact on Real Estate:

The projects near Thane would benefit massively with this bridge & road. They can now access Dombivli station instead of Thane station. This will definitely lead to a boost in demand for affordable housing in Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan & Dombivli.

Residents of the 200-acre township - Lodha Upper Thane would benefit the most with this infrastructure development. It is situated on the Thane-Dombivli Link Road and is just off the Mumbai-Nashik expressway. At present, it is home to thousands of families staying in spacious 1, 2 & 3 bed homes who travel to Thane station, via a 25-30 min drive, to reach to other parts of Mumbai. They would now be able to access Dombivli station(W) in just 10 mins!

Similarly, Lodha Villa Royale - an all villa estate is situated on Thane-Dombivli Link Road and its owners can access Thane, Dombivli, as well as, the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport with ease.
